Citizens robbed of cash, valuables

GUJRANWALA: Citizens were deprived of cash, ornaments and valuables in several strikes in different areas of Gujranwala on Thursday.

Gunmen snatched Rs 25,000 and two cellphones from Mughees in Sadr police station limits.

In Alipur area three robbers snatched Rs 36,000, a motorcycle and a cellphone from Zulifqar.

Mudassar was deprived of Rs 30,000 and two cellphones also in Alipur area.

In Sadr Kamoki area robbers snatched Rs 38,000 and a cellphone from Kashif.

In Sadr police station limits, Gujranwala, bandits snatched cash and a cellphone from Khalid.

In Ferozewala, Idrees was deprived of cash and a cellphone by dacoits.

In Cantt area, gunmen snatched Rs 14,000 and two cellphones from Raqia.

The motorcycle (GA-917) of Azeem was stolen from Kotwali area.

Thieves stole new motorcycles of Meesam Abbas, Feroz, Mushtaq, Khaliq, Naeem and Allah Ditta from different parts of the city.

RECOVERY TARGET INCREASED: The Director General Excise, Punjab, has increased the recovery target of regional office, Gujranwala.

According to sources, the local staff seemed disturbed in achieving the increased target.

The target has been increased under the heads of property and professional taxes with ratio of 20 per cent and 8 per cent accordingly. The regional office was also directed to launch a recovery drive to achieve the target.
