Senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Wasay Jalil was interrogated over what were said to be ‘political matters’ by officials of the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh on Thursday.

Jalil, who returned to the city last week after an extended stay in London, was called to the Rangers Headquarters for questioning and, according to MQM leader Amin-ul-Haq, the meeting was held in a cordial manner.

The party, however, refused to officially comment on the matter.

Moreover, sources were pointing to a possible travel ban on Jalil and said that he would not be allowed to depart the city till the investigations were completed.

Jalil, who had filed nomination papers on a reserved seat for the local government elections, has been appointed as chairman of the city’s District East by the MQM.  He was also looking after the same district during Mustafa Kamal’s tenure as Karachi mayor.
