Protest for pay scales up-gradation

BAHAWALPUR: Hundreds of clerical staffers of different departments Monday staged a demonstration seeking up-gradation in their pay scales.

Staffers of Punjab Provincial Buildings, Public Works Department, Irrigation Department, and Excise Department took out a protest rally from provincial building office to commissioner office Bahawalpur division where they raised slogans for up-gradation of their pay scales. They vowed continuing the protest until acceptance of their demand.

DENSE FOG: Dense fog conditions prevailed in the Bahawalpur division on Monday.

The locals suffered gas loadshedding in severe cold atmosphere. Daily activities of locals were disrupted owing to severe cold in Bahawalpur city areas and Rahimyar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Ahmadpur East, Hasilpur, Haroonabad, Fort Abbas, Khanpur, Liaqatpur, Sadiqabad and in Cholistan area. People in these areas experienced chilly wind. In several areas women and children staged protest against gas authorities over low gas pressure.

PEOPLE MANDATE: PPP local leader Muhammad Saleem Bhatti said the people of Rahimyar Khan have given their verdict in favour of the PPP in the local government polls and if the mandate was denied by the rulers, the people will react severely. Talking to newsmen here, he accused the PML-N leaders of resorting to cheap tactics to win district council Rahimyar Khan chairmanship. He said the PPP workers would defend their mandate under the leadership of former Governor Makhdoom Ahmad Mehmood. He said the district council Rahimyar Khan’s chairman slot would be won by the PPP and the PML-N leaders designs would be foiled to stealing the PPP mandate.

STUDENT DIES: A student of the Government Higher Secondary School Channi Goth Muhammad Rab Nawaz was killed as a bus hit him near Channi Goth Chakkar on Monday. The student was getting down from a bus when another approaching bus hit him to death.
