Post offices in Punjab have stopped renewing arm licences registered with them for decades on the grounds that the Punjab government has computerised them and Nadra is renewing them. But what about firearm licences issued by other provincial governments and converted to the ‘All Pakistan’ basis by the Punjab Home Department?

These licences have been verified almost a dozen times during the past 20 years. Will the PMG Office or the Punjab Home Department clarify the situation well before the January 31 deadline? One wonders why the ordinary citizen has to run from pillar to post for such routine work.
