Violent display
This refers to the editorial, ‘Violent display’ (January 21). The editorial has highlighted the real motive behind the attack on the Bacha Khan University. No one can deny that extremists are averse to Bacha Khan’s message of peaceful coexistence and tolerance. They deliberately launched their the attack on Bacha Khan’s remembrance day to demonstrate their enmity towards the philosophy of humanism and enlightenment.
The editorial underlined this vital clue which was not accorded importance by the media and the relevant quarters. This assertion is also validated by terrorist attacks on shrines. Another remarkable suggestion made in the editorial was to find the causes of sinking of the ship instead of rearranging the chairs on the deck. In view of the limitation of the security apparatus and human resources, thousands of educational institutions cannot be secured with a magic stick. Thus the editorial has rightly suggested that we should strike at the roots of terror.
