Pakistan’s second poverty survey next year: Marvi

GUJRANWALA: Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Marvi Memon has said that the country’s second poverty survey will be held in 2017.
She said this while addressing the MNAs, MPAs and newly-elected Local Government representatives at the DCO Office here on Sunday. MNAs Ch Mehmood Bashir Virk, Shazia Fareed, MPAs Abdul Rauf Mughal, Taufiq Ahmed Butt, Imran Khalid Butt, Nawaz Chohan, BISP DG Sara, Divisional Director Nadeem Alam Butt, Abdul Shakoor Mirza and others were also present. Marvi Memon said that important role would be given to the LG representatives in the survey and their recommendations would make the programme more effective. She said that the government was determined to eliminate poverty from the country and the BISP was playing an important role to meet the challenge. She said that the BISP was bringing revolution in the lives of the deserving people by providing financial help to them. Later, talking to media, Marvi Memon said that there was no room for terrorists in society as the entire nation was united against terrorism. She stressed the need for joint struggle to counter terrorism.
