NAWABSHAH: In order to review arrangements for Sanghar Local Government Elections to be held on 23th January, Shaheed Benazirabad Commissioner Dr Waseem Ali presided a high-level meeting at the Darbar Hall on Thursday.
Addressing the meeting, the commissioner said that all possible steps are being taken to hold peaceful elections in Sanghar district.
He directed the DHO to send 10 ambulances with medical staff to Sanghar besides the director local government was directed to arrange 10 fire tenders. He also instructed the medical superintendent of People's Medical Hospital to announce emergency at the hospital.
SSP Sanghar Dr Farrukh Ali said that steps are being taken for full security of polling staff, polling material and voters. He said that out of 765 polling stations, 330 are declared highly sensitive while 227 are declared sensitive polling stations.
He said that Taluka Khipro, Taluka Sanghar and Taluka Sinjhoro are sensitive and added that eight policemen would be posted at each sensitive polling station. DIG Shaheed Benazirabad Farhar Ali Junejo said that police force have been called from districts Naushehro Feroze, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad and Khairpur while 26 DSPs and 10 armoured cars would also deploy on the election day.
Addressing the meeting, Commandant Indus Rangers Col Shahid Mahmood said that more than 1000 jawans of Rangers would be deployed in Sanghar on polling duty and as immediate action it has started snap checking on the entry and exit routes of the district.
