KP lawyers boycott courts to protest Charsadda attack
PESHAWAR: Lawyer community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday observed boycott of courts across the province in protest against Wednesday’s terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda, killing at least 21 students and staff members including a PhD scholar and causing injuries to many others.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council vice-chairman Ahmad Farooq Khattak condemned the terrorist attack and demanded the government to expose the masterminds of the attack.
He also expressed deep sorrow over the killing of the students and other staff of the university and said that the lawyer community of the province were with the bereaved families in this hour of trial.
Peshawar High Court Bar Association President Muhammad Fida Gul and others also demanded immediate arrest of the real culprits behind the inhuman act of terrorism.
“It is the state and security agencies’ responsibility to protect citizens. There should be extraordinary measures for security of public places and educational institutions. Today only high-ups are secured in this country and innocent citizens are left at the mercy of God,” said one of the speakers.
MARDAN: Members of Mardan Bar Association boycotted court proceedings in protest against the terror attack on Bacha Khan University and also arranged a condolence meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Sher Mohammad Khan advocate, president, Mohammad Islam Wardak advocate, vice president, Amjad Saleem advocate, general secretary, and others condemned the
terrorist attack and demanded the government to provide protection to citizens in general and students in particular.
