Irfan Siddiqui visits NBF

A nationwide drive is being launched to promote the culture of book reading and encourage positive trends in society, especially the youth. He expressed his views during his visit for presentation of National Book Foundation (NBF). The presentation was attended by the officers of the division and NBF, says a press release.
"In view of the current scenario, it is the need of the hour to promote book culture and inculcate book reading habit for dissemination of knowledge, literacy and awareness with the spirit to bring harmony and tolerance among people," he said at this occasion. He further said that for this purpose to inculcate positive spirit and constructive tendencies among the people, we should embark upon to take steps for promotion of book culture in society.
Irfan Siddiqui directed NBF to carry out special programs and arrangements on the forthcoming 'Book Day,' falling in April this year, to celebrate it with new zeal and zest. He emphasized the need to give priorities for publication of quality of books that were synchronized and can cater for the challenges and requirements of present era apart from having quality as well as the content yielding interest of the people.
Adviser to Prime Minister for National History and Literary Heritage Division, Irfan Siddiqui appreciated the performance of NBF. He particularly lauded the team efforts of NBF in making this organization upto high mark and progressing by leaps and bounds since last year. He promised to help NBF in promotion of book culture particularly in publishing of books in future by making up project of its own printing press and solving others administrative issues in line of our government policies for making Pakistan peaceful and prosperous for long time through Book Culture Society.
NBF Managing Director Dr. Inam ul Haq Javeid, briefed the minister about the current pace of work, projects and issues confronted by the organization. In the presentation, he said that National Book foundation has been established through an Act of 1972and its prime objective is to make books and other reading materials for all readers with the aim of promotion of book reading habit along with culture of reading in society.
