BITC inaugurated at PMAS-AAUR

Business Innovation Technology Centre (BITC) was inaugurated at Pir Mehr Ali Shah-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) here on Thursday, with an aim to highlight creative business products and services developed by students and to provide them self-employment opportunities in order to cope with the challenge of unemployment.
The centre was established at University Institute of Management Sciences (UIMS) of PMAS-AAUR and inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad. This centre will also provide a forum to students to develop a university-industry linkage and to encourage/train students and provide initial financial support to establish start-up companies. Deans, directors, faculty members and students were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Professor Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad encouraged the students and teachers of Management Science to keep on making efforts for starting businesses which would provide employment to the poor people in Pakistan. He instructed that all resources be made available for students to pursue their ideas.
Speaking on the occasion UIMS Director Dr. Farida Faisal, highly appreciated the efforts of Project Management teachers for organizing all resources and making the Business Innovation Centre a reality. He said that the establishment of BITC idea is to provide entrepreneurship opportunities to the students so that they could become employer instead of seeking employment. She also announced launching of full-fledged Masters Degree program in Project Management within a year.
On the occasion, representing the private business sector Ms. Nighat greatly appreciated the students for their efforts. She was also of the opinion that several of the products on display could potentially be sold locally and in Europe.
Project Management students displayed their innovative business products and services including washing machine running on power generated by bicycle, solar bag for carrying items and charging devices or lighting bulbs, generation of electricity through piezo tile technology, battery heated winter jackets, handicraft items made from waste material, furniture made from discarded tires, automated job centre, automated detection of ammunition in vehicles and stoppage through tire deflation device, home-made fresh bakery items in innovative packaging.
