Ayaz Sadiq visits AIOU

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Thursday visited Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and appreciated its academic work.

Commenting on the university’s achievements in the educational sector, he said it was his honour to visit this mega national institution. He praised AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Sididqui for his academic achievements and the new initiatives taken during the last one year.

Expressing his profound respect for the teaching community, the speaker hoped that they would continue to serve the society, enabling the youth to play their active role in socio-economic development of the country.

The vice chancellor gave him a presentation on the university’s profile and its achievements for improving literacy rate in the country and providing affordable education to all segments of society. He also briefed him about the University’s collaborative partnership with national and international institutions for providing quality education to the people.

The university, Dr Shahid Siddiqui said introduced various community and research-based programs in socio-economic sector in the recent year, so as to help the government improving the living conditions of the people. He also briefed the Speaker about the steps taken to bring about efficiency and transparency in academic, administrative and financial system of the university.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq spoke about his personal conduct and the work for enhancing status of the Parliament in the eyes of the People. “I am trying hard to deliver my responsibilities in most humble way, giving highest respect to my parliamentary colleagues and the staff of National Assembly”, he remarked.
