Protest against low gas pressure

GUJRANWALA: Residents of various areas on Wednesday staged a demonstration against low gas pressure in their localities.

The protesters including women and children gathered in front of the Regional SNGPL Office and chanted slogans against the government and the SNGPL authorities. Due to the protest, the traffic on the Sui Gas Road was completely blocked for more than two hours. The protesters said that their families were facing immense gas loadshedding since three months. They demanded immediate restoration of gas supply.

 

Gepco employees demo against murder of XEN

GUJRANWALA: The Gepco employees staged a demonstration against the murder of XEN Mazhar Iqbal here on Wednesday.

All the Gepco offices remained closed to register the protest against the murder. The Gepco employees gathered in front of the Gepco head office and chanted slogans against the murder. The protesters demanded immediate arrest of the murderers.

EXECUTION OF MURDER CONVICT STOPPED: The execution of a murder convict was stopped just before his hanging when legal heirs of the victim pardoned him.

Jamil, s/o Abdul Waheed, had murdered Zahid over enmity in 2004 and Satellite Town police had arrested him. His appeals were rejected by the Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court while his mercy appeal was also rejected by the President of Pakistan.

BANNED OUTFIT ACTIVIST HELD WITH HAND-GRENADES: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Gujranwala on Wednesday arrested an activist of a banned organisation and recovered two hand-grenades, a pistol and 10 bullets from him.

The CTD team raided at Pindi Bypass and arrested Imtiaz with weapons. The police have registered a case and started investigation.

GEPCO LINEMAN HELD FOR TAKING BRIBE: An FIA team on Wednesday arrested a Gepco lineman on the charge of taking bribe from a man.

The FIA team conducted a raid in the supervision of a magistrate and arrested lineman Muhammad Saleem. A case has been registered against the accused.
