LAHORE
Cantt Operations and Investigations police claimed to have arrested 8 members of two dacoits gangs and recovered booty from their custody.
The arrested accused confessed to committing 13 such incidents of crime in different areas of the City. It was disclosed by SP Cantt Imtiaz Sarwar and SP Ismael Kharak in a joint press conference at their office on Wednesday. Police recovered Rs 110,000 in cash, 5 bikes, 8 cellphones, 1 laptop, and illicit weapons from their custody. Police arrested the members of Abid alias Abu Tenna and Farooq alias Farooqi Dacoit gangs. The arrested accused persons have been identified as Farooq, Shafiq, Amd, Abid, Umar Daraz, Haider Ali, Ansar Ali and Wajid. CCPO has announced cash prize and commendatory certificates for the police team.
CRACKDOWN ON BIKERS: CTO Tayyab Cheema has said City Traffic Police have been utilising all out resources to maintain flow of traffic. Police launched a crackdown on bikers for not using helmets and took action against 3,970 violators. Police continued making citizens aware of the utility of helmets.
ACCIDENTS: Total 526 accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which 11 lives were lost and 379 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts.
Some 183 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by Emergency Medical Teams.
