Woman killed on resistance

GUJRANWALA: A woman was shot dead on resistance on Noshera Road on Friday.
Bashiran Bibi was on her way when two dacoits intercepted her and tried to loot cash and other valuables. They shot her dead on resistance. An unidentified passer-by also sustained bullet injuries during the same incident. Baghbanpura police have registered a case.
WRESTLERS RALLY: Local wrestlers on Friday took out a rally against MPA Taufiq Butt for not distributing funds reserved for wrestling on merit.
Rustam-e-Gujranwala Shafiq alias Jhala Pahlwan led the rally which started from Jinnah Stadium and ended at DCO Office. The protesters chanted slogans against MPA Taufiq Butt and alleged that he was spending all the funds on only one ‘Akhara’ in which his son Shani Butt practices. The protesters demanded the Punjab CM take notice of the issue. They also warned that if their complaint was not redressed, they would stage a sit-in in front of the Punjab Assembly in Lahore.
DBA elections to be held today

GUJRANWALA: The District Bar Association’s office-bearers will be elected here in its annual elections on Saturday (today).
An Election Board has been established to conduct the elections. Nasrullah Gul and Waqar Hussain Butt will contest for president seat. Waseem Iqbal and Zia Rasool will fight for SVP seat, Zeeshan Elahi and Rauf Chohan for VP slot and Mian Zahid Nazir and Ch Kamran will contest for general secretary seat during the polls.
