Robbers gang busted in Kohat

KOHAT: The police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers and recovered some of the snatched money from them.

Speaking at a press conference, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sona Khan Marwat said that a noted trader Muhammadza Gul was carrying Rs150 million from Islamabad to Hangu in his pickup truck (Peshawar H/8032) on March 3, 2015 when gunmen intercepted the pickup near Nusratkhel village.

He said that the gunmen shot and injured him and snatched the pickup truck which was later found abandoned near Tablighee Markaz.

Following the registration of a first information report, the police constituted a team which managed to arrest one of the gangsters identified as Saadullah belonging to Lachi subdivision, he said.

He said that the detained accused led the police to arrest three of his accomplices identified as Tanveer, Sohail Khan and Abbas Gul. “The police recovered Rs1.66 million from their possession and was returned to the owner,” DSP said.

The offcial said that their ringleader Liaqat was arrested at the Qauid-i-Azam International Airport in Karachi when he was trying to flee the country.
