FAISALABAD: Another corona patient died here on Friday.
According to a spokesperson for the Health Department, the COVID-19 death toll rose to 1,156 in the district and 34 people tested positive for coronavirus during the last 24 hours. He said 837 tests for coronavirus were conducted in public and private sectors during the same period. He said so far, 20,592 patients had recovered from the disease while total active cases in Faisalabad reached 335.
He said 339 beds were allocated at the Allied Hospital, 133 at the DHQ Hospital and 150 beds at General Hospital Ghulam Muhammadabad for COVID-19 patients. At present, 41 patients were under treatment at the Allied Hospital, while 27 at DHQ Hospital and four were admitted to General Hospital Ghulam Muhammadabad, he told. Moreover, 148 patients were in home isolation, he added.
MEETING: The District Emergency Response Committee for Anti-Dengue meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali at his office on Friday.
District Coordinator for Epidemics Control Dr Zulqarnain gave briefing on results of indoor and outdoor inspection.
The DC urged the departments to speed up the inspection during the current rainy season because in these days the dengue larvae could increase. He said that anti-dengue teams should present in the field for chemical treatment of larvae and hotspots should be checked on regular basis. Earlier, the DC chaired a meeting of District Emergency Board for Muharram arrangements and has directed the departments to make comprehensive administrative and security strategy to maintain law and order in the district during Muharram.
55,883 MORE VACCINATED: As many as record 55,883 people were vaccinated here on Friday. According to District Health Officer Dr Bilal Ahmed , 993,648 general public and healthcare workers had administered corona vaccine at 37 centres and camps till now during special door-to-door campaign. He said that the process of vaccination of citizens was underway in the district.
FINE: The price control magistrates imposed fine on 89 shopkeepers for overcharging on Friday. The magistrates conducted raids at different markets to check the prices of goods and checked the sale of food items at fixed prices and imposed fine on the shopkeepers for profiteering.
