LAHORE: FIA Cyber Crime Wing Wednesday arrested PTI’s Jehangir Tareen Group MPA Nazir Chohan from Kot Lakhpat Jail in a case registered against him by PM’s adviser Shahzad Akbar.
Nazeer was about to be released from jail after a release order reached jail from a court concerned in another case against him by Shahzad Akbar. In that case, Nazeer was arrested Tuesday but managed to secure bail on the same day and his release from jail was due today. However, another case was registered against him by the FIA on a complaint against him by Shahzad Akbar for some social media posts defaming and putting the life of Shahzad Akbar in danger. The FIA team took custody of Nazir Chohan from the jail. Previously, an additional district and sessions court had granted bail to Chohan in a case of making allegations concerning religious beliefs of prime minister’s adviser on accountability Shahzad Akbar and allegedly putting his life in danger. According to this FIR registered at Racecourse Police Station, Shahzad Akbar accused Chohan of making allegations concerning the former’s religious beliefs during an appearance on a TV channel, adding that these statements had put his life at risk.
The FIR had been registered under Sections 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 189 (threat of injury to public servant), 298 (making statements with deliberate intent to wound religious feelings) and 153 (provoking to cause riot) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
