Court issues notice to NAB officials to submit reply before January 14
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday restrained the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from harassing and taking action against the superintendent of the Mardan Development Authority (MDA) and District Food Controller, Peshawar, till next order of the court.
A single bench headed by Justice Roohul Amin Khan also issued notice to chairman NAB, director general and director NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to submit reply before January 14 the date for the next hearing of the cases.
In a writ petition filed by superintendent legal MDA, his lawyer Amjad Ali submitted that his client was being harassed by a NAB KP official after he refused to withdraw the appeal of the authority about one kanal plot of land from the Supreme Court against the decision of the high court.
The second writ petition was filed by Muhammad Iqbal, District Food Controller Peshawar, against the harassment and action of the NAB KP. The petitioner’s lawyer submitted that the NAB had started an inquiry about assets of the petitioner from June 10, 2015 and the NAB officials called him to the office every week to harass him one way or the other. After hearing arguments, the court retrained the NAB from taking any action against the petitioners and directed it to submit reply before January 14.
