ISLAMABAD: The NAB Rawalpindi arrested former chairman Capital Development Authority Farkhand Iqbal for approval of handing over of possession of 118 kanals, 14 marla state land under management of CDA to private firm M/s Park Lane Estate Company (Pvt) Ltd in 2012. The arrest was made under Section 9 (a), (vi) and (xii) of National Accountability Ordinance, 1999. According to reasons of arrest, ex-chairman CDA Farkhand Iqbal, being CDA chairman knowingly and with mala fide intentions deliberately ignored the report of the environment wing where it was clearly stated that the land belongs to the state and is under possession of CDA. “However, he in connivance with other accused persons granted approval for handing over of possession of 18K-14M state land to private firm M/s Park Lane Estate Company (Pvt) Ltd,” according to a NAB official. The NAB sources said according to reasons of ground for arrest, Farkhand Iqbal being the CDA chairman after handing over the possession of state land and in order to save himself in connivance with accused Mian Waheedudddin, member Enviornment CDA managed removal of the original page manifesting approval of holding over of possession of state land to M/s Park Lane Estate Company (Pvt) Ltd from case file and thus through misuse of authority extended under favour as envisaged u/s 9 (a) of NAO, 1999. The reasons for grounds for arrest stated that that sufficient incriminating evidence is available on record which connects the accused with the offence of misuse of authority in collusion and connivance of other accused persons for which he is jointly and severally responsible. Ex-chairman CDA Farkhand Iqbal will be presented before accountability court Islamabad for grant of remand into NAB custody. It is to be mentioned that the NAB had already filed separate reference against former president Asif Ali Zardari in fake bank accounts scam with regard to alleged transfer to M/s Park Lane Estate Company (Pvt) Ltd via fake bank

accounts.
