One labourer killed, 32 injured in cylinders blasts

GUJRANWALA: A labourer was killed while 32 others were injured when four gas cylinders exploded in a factory on Sheikhupura Road on Wednesday.
Labourers were busy working in the factory when suddenly four gas cylinders exploded due to gas leakage. As a result, one labourer died on the spot while 32 others including Adil, Aziz, Ghulam Liaqat, Ali Raza, Rafiq, Taj Din, Nasir Ahmed, Akram Ali, Usman Zubair and Akram, sustained injuries. Due to the blasts, the roof of a nearby workshop was also collapsed and an electric pole fell down on the road. The injured were rushed to a hospital where doctors said that most of the workers had received serious burns and 15 of them were in critical condition. DCO Muhammad Amir Jaan rushed to the spot and inspected the rescue operation. Later, the DCO also visited the hospital and directed the MS to look after the treatment of injured persons personally. The DCO said that action would be taken against the factory owner and the concerned government officers and officials, which were responsible for the incident.
Medical report confirms police torture

GUJRANWALA: A medical report has proved that Ludhewala Warraich police tortured a youth.
Hafiz Muhammad Hanzal of Chehal Kalan filed a writ petition in the Civil Court and alleged that Ludhewala Warraich police arrested him in a buffalo theft case and ASI Khalid Mehmood tortured of him brutally. At this, Civil Judge Nuzhat Jabeen issued orders for medical check up of the youth in which police tortured was confirmed.
