MULTAN: Secretary Housing South Punjab Liaquat Ali Chatha Tuesday planted sapling under the monsoon tree plantation at a private housing site.
On the occasion, the secretary said the Parks and Horticulture Authority would plant more than 50,000 saplings and trees under monsoon tree plantation drive. He said in this regard, local and large mature trees would be planted and steps were underway to implement the Prime Minister's clean and green vision.
The tree plantation drive will continue till August 14. PHA DG Syed Shafqat Raza, Additional Advocate General Zulfiqar Sindhu, Deputy Secretary Zahid Iqbal and Director Horticulture Chaudhry Ghulam Nabi were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Chatha stressed the need of promoting tree plantation drive in Multan parks along with basic amenities. He said all the sections of the society should participate in the tree plantation.
The DG PHA said the purpose of planting big trees was to ensure their growth. They will plant other native trees, including Palkan, Terminalia, Amlatas and Sukh China, he maintained. He said the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chief Minister of Punjab were playing a key role in making the Clean and Green Campaign a reality. He said an integrated auction had been prepared in this regard and coordinated measures were being taken to ensure plant protection as well as water supply.
