Covid-19 is still here
The fourth wave of Covid-19 has wreaked havoc in Karachi. The city’s positivity rate is more than 20 percent. The Sindh government has imposed a lockdown and ordered all shopkeepers to follow SOPs. Even though the government is doing everything it can to deal with the situation, people’s lack of cooperation is making it difficult for it to eradicate the virus from the country. Many people complain that the government has closed only a few selected shops and malls. This is not true. The reason why the authorities have been forced to impose a lockdown is that many places are vulnerable to becoming Covid-19 hotspots especially when people visiting these places refuse to follow SOPs. If we want to have a pre-Covid-19-like situation, we should follow SOPs. Our responsible attitude will help the government not take harsh decisions. If the situation is not controlled in a timely manner, we will soon be witnessing an India-like disaster.
