ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi recovered Rs 324.174 billion through indirect recoveries and Rs 8.14831 billion through direct recoveries (about Rs 332.32231b) from 11th October 2017 till to date.
Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal chaired a meeting to review the latest performance of NAB Karachi from 11th October, 2017 at NAB Headquarters. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman NAB Hussain Asghar, DG Operations Zahir Shah and other senior officers. During the meeting, Dr Najaf Quli Mirza, DG NAB Karachi informed: NAB Karachi received 36,940 complaints out of which 36,368 complaints were disposed of. It authorized 1182 Complaint Verifications (CVs) out of which 1008 Complaint Verifications were completed while 232 Complaint Verifications were under process. NAB Karachi authorized 481 Inquiries out of which 322 Inquiries were completed while 320 inquiries were under process. NAB Karachi authorized 153 Investigations and completed 172 Investigations while 102 Investigations were under process. 107 References were filed in various Learned Accountability Courts while 262 references were under trial at various courts. From 11th October 2017 to date, 219 accused persons were convicted by the Learned Accountability Courts under section 10 of NAO-1999 while 215 accused persons were convicted by the Accountability Courts under section 25 (B) of NAO-1999.
Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal said that eradication of corruption is the top most Priority of NAB. He said that NAB Karachi has always played an excellent role in contributing towards the overall performance of NAB.
