Steps stressed to stop dengue in Punjab

LAHORE: Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Sarah Aslam has directed the officers concerned to intensify dengue prevention activities across the Punjab.

She appealed to the public to take special care of cleanliness and no garbage should be thrown in open places. Precautionary measures against dengue are very important. Citizens should be more responsible in preventing dengue during monsoon especially rainwater should not accumulate in residential areas, she said.

During the last 24 hours, one new confirmed case of dengue reported across the province. A total of two confirmed dengue patients are under treatment, one in Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi and one in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi, across the whole province.

During this year total 61 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported across the province and out of all confirmed patients, 27 patients have been reported from Lahore. One new case of dengue was reported across the whole province in the last 24 hours. Two dengue patients are undergoing treatment in all hospitals of Lahore and throughout the province.

In last 24 hours, 276,557 indoor and 73,883 locations were checked across the Punjab while larvae were destroyed from 360 locations. In Lahore, 40,365 houses and 6,405 outdoor places were checked for dengue larvae and 229 positive containers were destroyed.

Secretary Sarah Aslam said precautionary measures against dengue should also be taken besides taking precautionary measures against corona epidemic.
