Universities suspend on-campus classes once again
All the public sector universities in Sindh on Saturday announced the suspension of on-campus learning and research activities from July 26.
A notification issued by the government’s home department stated that all the public and private sector universities in the province would remain closed till July 31. The varsities, including the Sindh University, Karachi University, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Sindh Madressatul Islam University, would continue to take the ongoing exams while the admission process for the fall semester would also take place as per schedule.
The interviews for admissions in PhD, MS and MPhil programmes would be conducted on the announced dates, the notification said. No outsider would be allowed to enter the varsity premises during the exams hours, keeping strict compliance with the SOPs for Covid-19.
The administrative staff was directed to attend their offices with 50 per cent attendance while essential staffers would continue their duties as per normal routine. Only students whose first semester exams had been scheduled would be allowed to enter the hostels.
