A food delivery boy was wounded in a firing incident in Defence Housing Authority’s Khayaban-e-Badar on Saturday.
According to the Darakshan police, the incident took place outside the apartment of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader and member of the Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan. The boy was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment where the police recorded his statement.
The victim, Nadeem Ata, told police that he had arrived to deliver food at Hassan’s house where his security guard opened fire on him.
“When I reached the given location, I called the number provided to me many times but I did not get any response. Then I rang the doorbell and a man came out and asked me to hand over the parcel to him,” the injured food delivery boy claimed. “The guard opened fire on me when I tried to ring the doorbell again.”
It was reported on media that the suspect, identified as Maqbool, is a worker of the MQM-P and the party had appointed him as the security guard of the MPA.
Hassan, however, has denied the reports that said the suspect was his security guard.
Zone South police chief DIG Javed Akbar Riaz, while talking to The News, said the family of Hassan had placed an order through a food delivery application.
Doctors said the boy was shot once in his leg and his condition was out of danger. No case was registered till the filing of this news report while an investigation is under way.
