CPEC projects in Hazara: Security of Chinese nationals tightened after Dasu incident
MANSEHRA: The police have enhanced the security of Chinese nationals working on various projects being executed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiatives in the wake of the Dasu bus explosion.
District Police Officer Asif Bahadur visited the Jabori Hydropower Project and reviewed its entire security plan and personnel’s deployment. He also met with the Chinese engineers and workers and inquired about the security arrangements made by the police and dam administration.
The security of the 880 megawatts Suki Kinari Hydropower Project, being executed in the Kaghan valley under the CPEC initiatives, was also enhanced and extra-personnel of the Frontier Constabulary deployed, officials said.
The labourers and other staffers working on the project were being allowed in and even out after thorough body search, they added. Suki Kinari is the only energy project being executed under CPEC across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“We have put the security of the entire project and its segments on a high alert following the Dasu Hydropower project incident,” an official of the project told reporters. He added that the Chinese had also been provided extra-security since the Dasu incident and work on the energy project was well in progress.
Meanwhile, District Police Officer, Lower Kohistan, Zulfiqar Khan Jadoon has put the security on a high alert on the Eid ul Azha. Speaking to media men, he said that extra-force was deployed on the Karakoram Highway and vehicles were allowed ahead only after a complete check. He said that the police personnel would be deployed outside mosques during the Eid prayers.
