Khursheed Shah asks govt to convene joint session on ‘Afghan issue’
SUKKUR: Pakistan People’s Party leader Syed Khursheed Shah has suggested the federal government convene a joint-session of the parliament to address the Afghan issue, foreign policy and the country’s prevailing problems.
Talking to the media after a hearing of corruption reference of Rs1.23 billion at the Accountability Court Sukkur on Monday, Khursheed Shah said that the government should consult the parliament, rather look at other institutions to resolve the crisis. “The country has been facing serious issues due to bypassing of the parliament and failing to take the opposition into confidence,” said Khursheed, adding that the current foreign policy led to the recent crisis. He said that India had been taking advantage of the failure of Pakistan’s foreign policy, adding that it was a sheer failure of the foreign policies as friendly countries like Saudi Arabia were feeling uncomfortable. The PPP MNA alleged that the PTI government did not resolve a single issue for the past three years while the PPP had delivered to the people when it was in power.
He added that inflation had already reached an all-time high level and as a result the basic commodities have gone out of people’s access. He said that NAB has yet to find an evidence of corruption against him and his family members. The court adjourned the hearing by August 4.
