Gwadar water crisis
Gwadar and its adjoining areas have been facing the worst water crisis in history. The Ankara Dam that used to supply water to the area has completely dried up. People are clueless about potable water. Their worries are exacerbated by an inefficient government department that seems to be totally aloof to the people’s problems.
After much hue and cry, the PHE (Public Health Engineering) provided water to the people through tankers; this water is unfit for human consumption. One wonders what benefits the promised CPEC – that the government is so vehemently promoting – holds for the people of the area when they have been deprived of even the basic amenities of life. The authorities concerned should do the needful without delay.
