Traffic mayhem on Sargodha road

after murder, two other incidents

FAISALABAD: A murder and two other incidents caused the worst-ever traffic jam on Sargodha Road for three hours on Sunday night.

Due to the traffic jam, incoming traffic from Islamabad, Lahore, Sargodha and Chiniot and outgoing traffic from Faisalabad to these destinations came to a standstill and the citizens faced cumbersome situation to reach their destinations timely.

In the first incident, Riasat Ali of Chak 5 (Kamalpur), Sargodha Road, was present in his house when his in-laws came there and allegedly shot him dead for contracting love marriage. He had contracted love marriage with Maria about two months ago.

The parents and relatives of Riasat Ali blocked Sargodha Road for about two hours and raised slogans against the incident. They were demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

In another incident, four dacoits looted Rs 1 million from a filling station on Sargodha Road at 6:30pm and fled away after tying the security guard and other staff. They also resorted to aerial firing, which caused panic in the area. When Nishatabad DSP Ausaf Safdar reached the spot, the security guard informed that he was not present there at the time of dacoity. Police are investigating.

In yet another incident, two groups clashed with each other on Sargodha Road at 7pm, causing suspension of traffic on the road.

On information, Nishatabad police reached the spot and took the accused from both sides in custody but they resisted. Ultimately, they dispersed after mediation of the DSP.

 

Biker killed on road

FAISALABAD: A youth was killed in a road accident here.  A speeding car collided with a motorcycle. As a result, motorcyclist Jamshed, 17, was killed on the spot.
