HARIPUR: Unidentified armed robbers looted cash from a bank after taking hostage the staff and security guard in Sera-e-Saleh area here on Friday.
Police quoted the manager of Allied Bank Limited as saying that the bank staff was busy in routine work when four robbers, wearing facemasks, entered the branch at around 12 noon and one of them first overpowered the security guard while others entered the cash counter and the manager’s room and held them all at gunpoint.
The robbers, who were armed with pistols, collected Rs6.6 million cash and fled in a high-roof van. The robbers, according to bank staff and police, took with them the DVR set of the CCTV cameras installed in the bank branch.The police reached the crime scene and cordoned off the area and collected the fingerprints and relevant piece of evidence for investigation.
