FIA arrests Nadra official, two agents over fake CNICs

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Sindh’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle on Wednesday claimed arresting three persons, including an official of the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra), on charges of involvement in making fake computerised national identity cards.

The spokesman for the FIA said personnel raided a location and arrested Abdul Aziz Abbasi, data entry operator at Nadra’s Mega Centre, DHA, along with Muhammad Amin and Meraj (agents of non-nationals).

Ameen obtained CNIC No. 42201-4772707-3 on the basis of fake MNIC No. 504-75-390211 by impersonating himself as a Pakistani national by submitting fake and forged documents and information. He succeeded in obtaining the CNIC with the connivance of Nadra officials as well as agent Meraj by demanding Rs30,000 for the purpose.

A total of 13 suspects have been arrested, including Nadra officials, non-nationals and agents so far in this scam.

Two killed for ‘honour’

A man and a woman were killed in a firing incident in New Karachi’s Noor Khan Goth on Wednesday.

Rescuers transported the bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities where they were identified as 40-year-old Ghulam Rasool and woman as 35-year-old Shahid.

Police, while sharing the findings of the initial investigation, said the man was a cattle farmer and had two wives and four children, while the woman was a widow and mother of four children. The two worked at a factory where they became friends.

Police suspected that the incident might have occurred over honour killing as one of the woman’s sons had been missing since the incident took place. No case was registered till the filing of this news story.

Woman kills self

A woman died after jumping off the third floor of a residential building in Orangi Town on Wednesday.

Rescuers transported the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she was identified as 26-year-old Kanwal, wife of Ahsan.

According to Iqbal Market SHO Jamal Leghari, the woman had a dispute with her husband for the past 12 days. She had left her husband’s house and had been living with her parents where she committed suicide.

Man jumps to death

A patient committed suicide by jumping off the tenth floor of a private hospital on MA Jinnah Road.

Riaz Ahmed had been suffering from typhoid and was admitted to a hospital in Lasbella, Balochistan. Due to unsatisfactory treatment, he was then shifted to Karachi for treatment on Tuesday night where he ended his life.
