LAHORE : Green Town police arrested four persons on charges of hacking mobile numbers and blackmailing citizens. The arrested accused have been identified as Shafiq, Hussain, Abu Bakar and Rashid. One of them, impersonating an officer of an intelligence agency, called a citizen, Muhammad Rafiq, and blackmailed him that his account was used by terrorists. The accused demanded Rs 5.5 million extortion money from. The accused had already received Rs 3 million from him. Police recovered Rs 2.5 million from the accused. The accused had been committing such a crime with different citizens for over a year. A case has been registered against them.
Bike taken away: Motorbike of senior journalist Faran Shakir was taken away on June 28. Faran had parked his bike outside Lahore Press Club and an unidentified person took away his vehicle. A case was registered by Thana Qila Gujjar Singh Police but Police is yet to recover the bike despite the passage of two weeks.
fire: A massive fire broke out in a scrape godown in Shahdara Town area on Tuesday. The cause of fire was still unknown. On being informed, the firefighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after hectic efforts. No casualty was reported in the incident.
Body found: A 40-year old man was found dead in the Lytton Road police area here Tuesday. Police claimed that the man yet to be identified was an addict and died of drug overdose. Edhi volunteers shifted the body to the morgue.
Arrested: Barki police arrested a youth for uploading arms' videos on social media. The accused, identified as Ajmal, had uploaded a video displaying weapons and smoking hookah. Police recovered a pistol from his possession.
PO arrested: FIA has arrested a proclaimed offender namely Muhsin Raza on Tuesday. The accused had extorted Rs250,000 from complainant Ijaz Rasool for sending him abroad but failed to honour his commitment and had abscond for fear of arrest.
