ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) will take up pending complaints against National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Monday (today).
Sources confided to The News that the SJC would take up the complaints filed by Barrister Zafrullah Khan and others in 2019.
Sources said that the Council would deliberate on the jurisdictional issue for initiating proceedings against the incumbent NAB chairman over misconduct.
In this respect, notice has been issued to Attorney General Khalid Javed for assisting the Council as to whether it could proceed on the complaint of misconduct against the NAB chairman ornot. Under Article 209 of the Constitution, the SJC is headed by chief justice of Pakistan and two senior most judges of the Supreme Court and two most senior chief justices of high courts are its members.
Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed is the chairman of the Council while senior most judges of the Supreme Court including Justice Umer Ata Bandial and Justice Mushir Alam, and Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh and Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah are its members.
