Nursing community praised

LAHORE : Lahore General Hospital (LGH) Medical Superintendent Dr Abdul Razzaq has said that young nurses should make service to the patients their motto as nursing is a very sacred profession which has the highest honour of serving humanity.

“The field of nursing began with a great woman named Florence Nightingale whose name is on the front page in the history of nursing and is considered a role model for women in other fields,” he said while addressing a ceremony held on the occasion of retirement of Head Nurse Ms Cecilia Gill. Focal Person Emergency Dr Laila Shafiq, Dr Sonia Ayub, Deputy Nursing Superintendent Dr Ruqiya Bano, Nursing Supervisor Anwar Sultana, Khalida Tabassum and a large number of nurses, including Naseem Khaliq, Sadaf Rafiq, Asifa Kiran, Shafi Ashraf, Jawariya, Nudrat Mukhtar, Uzma Yaseen and Parveen were present on the occasion.

The speakers said that many nurses had made a name for themselves in Pakistan. In the days of epidemics like corona and natural disasters, they have made a name for themselves in the field of Pakistani nursing community by providing unparalleled care to the sick and injured ones, the speakers said. Cecilia Gill thanked the organisers of the ceremony and participants and said that the nurses considered the service of patients as their faith by staying on the front foot and the relationship of humanity with them was more important. Cecilia Gill expressed her commitment to serve the suffering humanity in future too. At the end of the ceremony, a bouquet was presented to Cecilia Gill by her fellow nurses and best wishes were expressed for her health and future.
