ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Various Shia organizations observed a countrywide protest day on Friday, condemning the blasphemy attempt against the sacred religious figures and demanding the arrest of accused Abdul Rehman Salfi.
Rallies and demonstrations were held in many places, and prayer leaders in the Friday sermons highlighted the honour of Ahle Bait and other religious personalities. MWM Punjab Gen Secretary Abdul Khaliq Asadi led a rally from Islampura with hundreds of participants holding banners and placards, chanting slogans against the accused of blasphemy. The speakers demanded death penalty for blasphemers.
Abdul Khaliq Asadi said the global colonial powers are creating a new chaos in Pakistan by sabotaging religious harmony and provoking religious hatred, posing a serious threat to the security and solidarity of the country.
