ABBOTTABAD: The police have recovered narcotics, arrested a number of drug peddlers and criminals and seized illegal arms and ammunition. This was told a meeting chaired by District Police Officer Zahoor Babar Afridi on Thursday.
Additional Superintendent of Police Malik Ejaz, SP (investigation) Muhammad Ishtiaq, Assistant Superintendent of Police Khadija, sub-divisional police officers and others attended the meeting. The DPO urged the police to keep a vigilant eye on criminals and provide maximum facilities and safety to the tourists in Abbottabad.
Later, the meeting was told that 117 kilogram charas, 11.5kg heroin, 1.634kg Ice, 855 bottles of liquor had been seized and 15 drug peddlers were during the previous month. Similarly, the police recovered 45 pistols, 11 rifles, two Kalashnikovs and one Kalakove besides sending 15 persons behind bars for festive firing and display of arms on social media. The participants were told that 32 proclaimed offenders and most wanted criminals had been arrested during crackdowns in the district. Properties of 81 POs were seized and their identity cards were blocked through Nadra while legal action was taken against their facilitators.
