PESHAWAR: A 40-member jirga of the elders of Janikhel tribe of Bannu district called on Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Thursday and apprised him about all the issues being faced by people of the area.
Besides Provincial Minister Shah Mohammad Wazir, Chief Secretary Kazim Niaz, Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari, Commandant, Frontier Constabulary Salahuddin, Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Bannu Commissioner, regional police officer, deputy commissioner and district police officer were present, said a handout.
Addressing the jirga, the chief minister assured the jirga to resolve all their problems on a priority basis, improve law and order situation and to ensure rapid development of the area.
He announced a special development package of Rs 2 billion for the area and Rs 2 billion for the construction of Shakto Dam in Janikhel. The chief minister announced the recruitment of five platoons comprising Janikhel youth in Frontier Constabulary.
Mahmood Khan directed the officials concerned to prepare a case and submit it for approval. He announced the construction of a police station at Janikhel as well. The chief minister assured to start developmental schemes in health, education, road infrastructure and other social sectors for the area.
Mahmood khan said the KP government was taking serious steps to maintain law and order in the area and urged the elders of the area to play a role in this regard. He believed that some elements tried to incite the people of Janikhelkhel against the government for political purposes but the people thwarted the attempt.
