Sherpao concerned over deteriorating security in Afghanistan
MANSEHRA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) head Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Thursday expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan and said that Islamabad did not have a clear-cut policy to deal with the fallout of the Afghan conflict.
Addressing a gathering in Karori union council here, he said that Pakistan could suffer from the spillover of violence from Afghanistan.
“This issue can be solved through negotiations. War is no solution to any problem,” he said, adding that the common people would suffer the most due to the escalation of violence in Afghanistan.
Criticising the government, Aftab Sherpao said the three-year performance of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was dismal. The recent budget did not offer any relief to the have-nots, he went on to say.
The QWP leader said though the government had taken huge loans, no uplift activities were taking place. “The national debt is piling up,” he remarked, adding the PTI rulers were following the dictates of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The government has now started mortgaging the national assets, including airports and motorways, to secure more loans, he said and added that the PTI rulers have buried the country under heavy debt.
Aftab Sherpao said that the incompetence of the PTI government could be gauged from the fact that the country lurched from one crisis to another.
“In the last three years, the country has seen the sugar, flour and petrol crises and there seems no end to it,” he added. The government, he added, had compounded the problems of the people.
