GCU undergraduate admissions open from 15th
LAHORE:Government College University Lahore has announced opening undergraduate admissions in 27 disciplines from July 15, 2021, through an online portal i.e. www.gcuonline.pk.
GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi said this year the university would hold entrance tests for admissions to all disciplines and only those students, who qualify the pre-admission test, would be called for interviews. According to the new merit policy, the entrance test shall carry a weightage of 40 percent, interviews 20 percent, Intermediate marks 30 percent and Matriculation marks 10 percent.
However, the entrance test is exempted for the students securing admissions on the reserved seats of sports, co-curricular activities and for students securing admissions on reserved seats for the disabled. The VC said that this year, the university would offer admissions to “Regular” as well as “Self-Supporting” programmes.
“For the first time, GCU has eliminated discrimination between regular and self-supporting students, as all self-supporting students would also be eligible for the scholarships, hostel accommodation and transport services. Students of both sessions would receive equal treatment in the faculty allocations and other services,” Prof Zaidi said. The VC announced that for the first time, admission process has been completely digitalised at GCU as printing and submission of hard copies of admissions forms and academic documents are not required. The VC said the last date for submission of online admission forms is August 6, 2021. “All top BISE high-achievers will receive fee scholarships and free hostel accommodation,” he said.
