Jordanian varsity honours Pakistani scientist

A Jordanian varsity, University of Petra (UOP), has honoured Pakistani scientist Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary with the the title of ‘Adjunct Distinguished Professor’ in recognition of his scientific research and services in the field of chemistry.
A senior official of Karachi University’s International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) said that the UOP Deans’ Council had selected Prof Choudhary, who serves as the director of the ICCBS, for his contributions towards the advancement of research and for increasing international cooperation. Prof Choudhary, he added, had received the award from the UOP president in an induction ceremony held last month in Amman.
Career profile
Prof Choudhary has written and edited 27 books, most of which have been published in USA and Europe. He is also the author of over 900 research papers and chapters in top international science journals, as well as 32 US patents. The cumulative impact factor of his publications is over 1,650. His scientific work has been cited more than 9,150 times with the h-index of 38.
He has won several national and international awards such as the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and also received the prestigious title of “Distinguish National Professor” from the Higher Education Commission in 2004. He is also the recipient of the first Khawarizmi International Award from the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Award in Education by the president of Azerbaijan.
KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser and Prof Atta-ur Rahman, a former federal minister for science and technology and former chairman of the Higher Education Commission, have congratulated Prof Choudhary on the award and hailed it as an honour for the entire nation.
