LAHORE: ‘Lahore Wears Masks’ is a community-wide mask wearing campaign, led by the Office of Commissioner Lahore Division Captain Muhammad Usman, along with support from other organisations and institutions i.e Yale University, Stanford University, IPA, Mahbub-ul-Haq Research Center of LUMS, Pakistan Post, Life at Lahore & MilKar.com is continue.
This campaign is based on the normalise Mask-Wearing Project, which aims to change social norms and prevent the spread of COVID-19. This is being done through distributing free of cost masks through courier, offering information in the form of brochures, reinforcement at markets and mosques, and role modelling through community leaders.
Similar initiatives have also been seen in India, Bangladesh and Uruguay. MilKar.com through its large network of volunteers is helping in this initiative to reach masses by distributing masks in mosques, churches, temples, markets and other area of Lahore where mask wearing is not normalised yet.
