Laudable efforts
This refers to the article ‘A force for knowledge’ (July 7) by Atta-Ur-Rahman. It was good to read that the writer played a major role to set up two prestigious hybrid universities, which will offer quality education in the disciplines of engineering and information technology (IT), in Pakistan. It is hoped that graduates of these universities will be recruited by best-performing foreign companies. Foreign remittances sent by these graduates will also benefit the economy.
Efforts to industrialise the country should be reinvigorated so that the graduates of these universities do not remain unemployed after acquiring useful skills. The writer and the prime minister deserve praises for setting up the two hybrid universities by collaborating with eight foreign universities. This initiative will indeed be a harbinger of transformation of the engineering and IT sectors in Pakistan.
