MULTAN: Bahauddin Zakariya police on Tuesday arrested two office-bearers of the PTI on the charge of land grabbing and transferring plots of citizens through fake documents.
The police arrested PTI Multan district Youth Wing president Rao Yasir and another worker Danish for grabbing lands of citizens while using their party symbol. The police said that four different FIRs were registered against Rao Yasir. The accused wanted to the police in eight different land grabbing incidents, the police claimed.
Senior PTI leader Malik Asim Dehr, Muhammad Ramzan, Haji Muhammad Rafiq and 12 unknown persons were nominated in the FIRs registered under sections 448, 511, 380. 506, 148 and 149. Meanwhile, a court granted two days physical remand of both accused.
Arrangements finalised to cope with flood situation: The district administration Tuesday finalised arrangements to cope with possible flood.
A meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Tayyab Khan was held to review also arrangements to deal with any emergency on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha and Muharram.
Addressing the meeting, Tayyab said the water situation in the rivers was normal. He said a report has been received from all the machinery used by the third party to deal with the floods.
In addition, all necessary equipment has been provided for the Flood Relief Camps and vaccination of cattle in the riverine areas has been completed while encroachments on the natural channels of water in River Chenab and link canals have been removed.
He said during Eid-ul-Adha and Ashura all departments should deploy their focal persons in the control room established in the DC office.
He also directed to launch a full-fledged campaign against encroachments in the city. District Emergency Officer Dr Kaleemullah and SDO irrigation briefed the meeting. WASA, Corporation, Police, Livestock, MWMC and Agriculture Department officials attended the meeting.
