Islamabad: No death due to coronavirus illness, COVID-19 was reported from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours, however, the number of patients reported from the twin cities continued to register an upward trend as 103 new cases were reported from the region taking total number of patients so far registered from the twin cities to over 108,000 on Tuesday.
The morbidity and the positivity rate of COVID-19 have once again started showing a significant rise in the region.
Many health experts believe that the outbreak is still intact and individuals must follow SOPs to bring the positivity rate down and minimize losses being caused by the illness.
It is important that out of a total of 108,008 patients so far reported from the twin cities, 1,775 patients had already lost their lives due to COVID-19.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Tuesday reveals that as many as 79 new patients have been tested positive for coronavirus illness from the federal capital in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 83,048 of which 780 have died of the illness and 81,123 have recovered.
It is alarming that the number of active cases of infection from ICT is once again on the rise for the last week. It jumped to 1,145 on Tuesday after the addition of 28 active cases to the existing pool in the last 24 hours.
From Rawalpindi district, another 24 patients have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 24,960 of which 995 have lost their lives while 23,759 have recovered from the illness.
On Tuesday, there were a total of 206 active cases of the disease from Rawalpindi of which 23 patients were hospitalized in town while 183 were in isolation at their homes.
