SUKKUR: The Khairpur Police claimed to have recovered a kidnapped driver of the Edhi Foundation’s ambulance, which was left abandoned in Ranipur, from the captivity of the dacoits of the Katcha area of Khairpur.
SSP Khairpur Zafar Iqbal Malik said three days ago Edhi Foundation’s ambulance driver, identified as Imran Machi, was kidnapped by the dacoits from the riverine area of Peer Wassan in Khairpur, who abandoned the ambulance. He said the police traced the driver and forced the kidnappers to free the captive, while they were shifting the abducted person to Balochistan through the Northern Bypass of Karachi.
According to Haji Saleem Arain, In-charge of Edhi Centre Larkana, driver Imran Machi was returning after delivering a body of a resident of Khairpur when he was intercepted by the dacoits at Peer Wassan. The driver, he said, phoned his brother Muhammad Moosa to inform him of being kidnapped.
