MARDAN: District Police Officer Dr Zahidullah Khan has said that the Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) has resolved more than 147 disputes in the district during the month of June.
Briefing reporters, he said the DRC received a total of 174 cases, out of which 147 were resolved with the consent of the parties involved, in accordance with the Pashtun tradition of the jirga.
He said the disputes resolved included those of land, money, family disputes, and murders. “DRC committees have been set up in all circles of Mardan district and the DRC members have been selected impartially so that they can also play an impartial role in deciding cases,” he added.
He said the police were cooperating with the DRC members, with an aim to improve its performance and ensure peace in the district.
Meanwhile, the cops arrested two accused in an attempted murder case in Par Hoti area.
The police took action on the FIR lodged by an injured Muhammad Ilyas and arrested Yasir and Danyal and also recovered the weapons of offence, a pistol, from them.
