Three people lost their lives while one dozen others were wounded in various traffic accidents in parts of the city on Sunday.
A passer-by died and a motorcyclist was injured in a road accident in the airport area. They were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where the deceased man was identified as 55-year-old Rafiq and the injured as Rafay Akhtar, 25.
Police said the accident took place when the motorcyclist hit the passer-by. Further investigations are under way. Separately, a man died in a road accident near Ansari flyover on the Super Highway. The body was transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The deceased man was identified as 40-year-old Naeem, son of Aslam, a resident of the same area.
In another mishap, a 40-year-old man, Hanif, son of Haji Ahmed, died after a container fell on him near the Port Qasim power plant within the limits of the Bin Qasim police station. Police said he was a trailer truck driver and hailed from Punjab.
Meanwhile, as many as one dozen people were injured after a passenger bus overturned in the Sher Shah area. The injured persons were shifted to the Cibil Hospital, Karachi. The injured included Bilal, 8; Abdul Jabbar, 40; Arshad, 35; Bakhtiar, 40; Fazal Hussain, 55; Shamim, 50, wife of Shabbir; Shahnaz, 40, wife of Ashraf; Zaheerullah, 50; Razia, 40, wife of Usman; Zaheerullah Khan, 60; Muzaffar Hussain, 45; and Obaid, 52. Further investigations are under way.
