KARACHI: Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS) organised a hockey reporting workshop on the occasion of the World Sports Journalists Day here at the KHA Complex.
The event was attended by sports journalists, hockey Olympians, members of the Sindh Olympic Association (SOA), provincial associations and corporate sector officials.
Speaking on the occasion, former Pakistan captain Hanif Khan said that a player or organiser could not dodge a journalist who has done proper homework.
He acknowledged that sports journalists play a major role in an athlete’s growth.
Kashif Jawwad, a former Pakistan junior captain and member of the national teams in Athens and Sydney Olympics and World Cup 2002, briefed the journalists about the five-a-side format. He said that in the past lack of knowledge about regulations had cost Pakistan dearly.
This format of two halves of 10 minutes each is getting popularity worldwide and the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is also working on a roadmap for the promotion of this format, he added.
