Ghani challenges NAB to arrest him

ISLAMABAD: Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani challenged the NAB officials to arrest him and said that he would go to the NAB office on Monday with two pairs of clothes.

“If the NAB arrests him, he will not apply for bail and will go to the NAB office with two or three pair of clothes,” he said while addressing a press conference here on Saturday at Sindh House along with PPP media coordinator Nazir Dhoki. Saeed Ghani asked what kind of magic and influence does Haleem Adil Sheikh has over NAB that the anti-grant organisation gets offended when he (Ghani) took his name (Haleem Adil Sheikh). “Why NAB does not act against those involved in the biggest wheat scandal, sugar scandal and medicine scandals in the country,” he asked.

While demanding action against Haleem Adil Sheikh, he said that NAB Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal is being blackmailed on the basis of a video. “The NAB chairman was nowhere to be found after video but when I made a remark against the PTI leader, it swung into action against me,” he said.

He said the government is itself blackmailing the NAB and influencing its every case. “After my statement, an investigation has been ordered against me,” he said.

He said the NAB was asked to take action against him under Section 31 which does not apply to him but Section 31 applies against NAB’s own people. “I have been talking against NAB chairman for so long, no investigation was ever ordered but the moment I sought action against Haleem Adil Sheikh, NAB ordered action against me,” Saeed Ghani charged.

Alluding to Jehangir Tarin’s sugar scandal, he claimed PTI’s Ali Zafar is the lawyer of the sugar mills. The “wheat scandal report has not come yet and it seems that the government has suppressed that report,” he said. He asked what had the NAB done against the government’s mega corruption scandals including drug prices, flour and sugar scandal.

Offering his arrest to the NAB, Saeed Ghani said that he would go to the NAB office on Monday alone and not in a procession. He said that NAB Karachi has written to the NAB headquarters containing an inquiry report of land grabbing against Haleem Adil Sheikh but no action was taken against the PTI leader on that report.

Saeed Ghani said the leaders of the opposition are being arrested and prosecuted on the basis of trumped up charges, which reflects NAB-Niazi nexus.
